This project was all about sustainability. We worked with Oxfam to create a game to empower the invisible worker
In this project, Me and the team decided that we did not want to shove the subject down people's throat,
instead we worked through metaphors. In this game, the light is where society's eye falls upon and the shadow is where people are not noticed. Here we tried to abstractify the subject
by making it a fantasy setting, where multiple creatures live who work together to build a forest. However, those in the shadow are becoming inreasingly ignored as the Luma are overgrowing the forest, choking out the life in the forest.
This is a game where I took the role of a game designer. I was responsable for the game feel, level layout, usertesting and overall game design.
This was amazing, things with the group went very well
and all in all this has been a great success. Ofcourse this project is not perfect and on my end especially. My very firt forray in level design leaves things to be desired for instance the lightplant introduction where I learned
that when you introduce a new mechanic, you should nog give the player too much room else the message will get lost. If you want to know more behind this project, contact me!
