UI mechanic

This project was about learning to be creative. We had to think of a verb and make something based on that word that was interactive. I chose the word "Uitputten" or "To exhaust".

There are multiple forms of exhausting things, and I was thinking of exausting my environment to achieve objectives. I then had the idea to use the User Interface to to achieve objectives by exhausting the user interface itself.




This prototype is a rough draft of the idea. There are still bugs, inefficiencies and objects with basic models.The code is very mediocre but does some interesting things by using some clever camera trickery(Rendering seperate ui layers to trick the player) to create the desired effect.

The idea on it's own is solid. The player drags UI elements to the screen and directly into the 3d world. The dragging of the heart works well in a puzzle setting, however, the critical hit system does not work the way I want it too. In other gameplay forms both might work better but for now this system is still being iterated on and is worth showing.
Update: I tried working parts of the mechanic into a platformer. How it works is that the player uses their UI as a platform to jump on, while the Ui is still drawn on the UI layer
